Making stories move
You’re an author, academic, scientist, creative, or changemaker, and you have a true story to share.
At Water Street Editorial, we help people like you weave experience, science, and well-chosen images into stories that make people care and move them to act.
How do we do it?
Non-fiction books
Books, textbooks, guides, memoirs, cookbooks, and more
Got a book inside you? We can help bring it to life, from conceptualization and writing through to proofreading and publication.
Reports
Annual reports, literature reviews, book reviews, case studies, academic journal submissions, articles
All of these formats contain stories. Many academics rely on stressed graduate students to help produce them, but they’re not writers and can only do so much! On top of writing finesse, we offer graduate-level research support, analysis, and documentation when stakes are high and your organization’s reputation is on the line.
Media and communication
Press kits, opinion editorials, media pitches, blog posts, presentations, speeches, reviews
How to get your work into the public eye? We can help package your issue, work or topic in a way that resonates with editors and audiences.
Proposals
Grant/funding applications, book proposals, admissions applications support
How do maximize your chances of getting funding, getting admitted, or getting published? A personal touch and expert editing helps your idea stand out.
Images
Conceptualizing illustrations (including graphs and infographics); curating, editing, securing permissions
Illustrations, graphs and images can inspire or tank your readers’ interest. We help by choosing, crafting, and securing images that enhance and amplify your text.
Planning materials
Multi-authored documents, style guides, document templates
Your document is team-written and foundational to your work. How do you ensure it’s clear, consistent, and impactful? We leverage resource and environmental management (planning) training and technical and editing skills to bring these to a professional standard.
About us

Why ‘Water Street’ Editorial?
WATER STREET EDITORIAL is based in Vancouver, Canada. This city is known for its lush natural beauty, progressive planning ethics, and embrace of diversity in all its forms. Water Street is a colourful street in Vancouver’s historic core, connecting the Vancouver’s West End and Downtown East Side.
For us, Water Street also evokes another Vancouver jewel: the world’s longest urban seawall. This car-free path winds 30 kilometres around the city’s coastline, bringing people together and ensuring oceanfront access for all. It ties our civic life to the ocean, our temperate rainforest, and the Coast Mountains. All this human and tidal motion reminds us what’s possible by cooperating and learning from nature — much like the clients of Water Street Editorial.
